A Little Back Story…

In 2022 Nick and I took our first trip to Italy. His paternal grandfather was born in Lentini, Sicily. Nick had always wanted to visit the town where his grandfather was born. We also wanted to get an overview of Sicily, so we decided to do a Rick Steve’s tour, The Best of Sicily in 11 days. After the tour our youngest daughter joined us and we spent five extra days on the beach near Carlentini and Lentini. It was a wonderful trip where we met up with several people, ate great food and had refreshing beverages! Nick is a professional genealogist and my passion is quilting. Through Nick’s genealogy he has connected with many people through out Italy and beyond.

Carlentini and Lentini have a strong connection to Omaha, Nebraska due to the chain migration that has occurred over the last century. Over the last five years we have made lots of friends in Omaha due to our shared family histories. In addition, we have made lots of friends in Italy and throughout the world. And because of this, the time was right for another trip to Europe to foster those relationships. We also wanted to explore new locations and broaden our understanding of Italy and Western Europe. It has been my dream for decades to visit Switzerland and take a tour of the Bernina Sewing Machine factory.

Our trip starts on May 8, 2025 and will go through June 4, 2025
