Scenic Drive to SwitzerlanD
”IN THE VALLEY OF 72 WATERFALLS MY HEART FOUND ITS RYTHM” – SWISSSAGE.COM
PROPOSED PLAN
Today we’ll take a scenic drive past pristine mountains and sparkling lakes as we climb high into the heart of the Swiss Alps to our destination — the magnificent Berner Oberland, flanked by towering, waterfall-laced cliffs and crowned by a trio of Switzerland’s most formidable peaks: the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Tonight we’ll share a hearty Swiss dinner together at our creaky old chalet in the Lauterbrunnen Valley.
Light walking: 2–4 miles throughout the day on mostly level terrain. Bus: 7 hours. Sleep in the Lauterbrunnen Valley.
ACTUAL EVENTS:
Oh, what a day! We left our scenic little hotel in Reutte, Austria thinking we had just seen the very best. Even though it was a long day on the bus it went relatively quickly. Around 11:30 we stopped in Lindau, Germany. Lindau is a picturesque little town that sits on Lake Constance. We wandered around, took pictures and got a bite to eat before getting back on the bus. I was hoping to get a bit of sleep on the bus, but there was so much beauty along the way I was afraid I might miss something.
The Lauterbrunnen Valley is absolutely breath taking. Between the high mountains, waterfalls and hang gliders my poor little camera was getting a work out. We arrived at the tram station and, unloaded our goods from the bus and proceeded up the mountain on a gondola. The views were so impressive. We then paraded down the street of Murren to our hotel. The view from our room did not disappoint!
